Results From The Survey Monkey!
We now have all the results back from the survey monkey on how we’re all gonna run my newsletter for a while. Yay!
Survey Monkey was a nice system to create the survey through, and it’s been a fun little project getting to know what everyone on the new subscriber base thinks. I’ll leave out a lot of the “comments” because I don’t want to add folks comments out here in public without their permission. It didn’t track who made what comment, but still. We’ll keep it simple.
Below I’ll link all the screenshots from survey monkey - they will be small here in the post - but just click on each pic to get the full sized image that you can actually READ. Just remember to click the “back” button on your browser to come back here, I haven’t figured out how to get the pics to pop up in their own window yet.
Let’s start with the first question, which was… “When you signed up to MichelleBrouse.com, what was your reason for doing so?”
Of course I had to add the last option of “I have no idea why I signed up” because not only is it funny… it can be surprisingly true. Some people do not know why they signed up to a particular newsletter, some don’t remember they signed up - you would be surprised.
Notice one person decided to check that… so hey - one out of about 150, not too far off really!
Here is some key info though. Most people it seems are very tired of the high prices for any kind of coaching. Me too, honestly. Yeah, we all have to make a living, and yes - you can make a lot of money selling 2k home study courses, 1k seminars, 3k coaching….
Is that REALLY helping people? Sometimes I’m not so sure. Last time I spent 3k on coaching, it didn’t exactly work out as planned. Home study courses that are in the 2k range, I feel are just overpriced. Yes, they give out great info - but if you’re only spending 100 bucks or so to get everything printed from a fulfillment house, and the buyer pays the shipping - you are making a LOT of money.
If I ever get to the point of creating home study courses, they are NOT going to be 2k, and I don’t really care WHAT kind of info is so gosh dang “priceless” that it “shouldn’t be shared”. Bull crap I say - it’s all pretty standard stuff that’s been used for a while. Either that or someone found a new cool way of doing something, which I still don’t think deserves a 2k price tag - unless you are PERSONALLY spending YOUR TIME actually COACHING someone. Just shipping a home study course to someones door… well, you get the picture.
I could say more, but I won’t - because there is much more survey monkey material to go through! Next interesting tidbit of info from question one is that “to learn more about graphics” ranks second on the list.
This is no big surprise really, because many people know me as a graphic designer. What I will do for you folks, is finally get ecoverfx all fixed up into a blog like this one, and we’ll go through all my graphic stuff on that site. This will help people who are interested in just graphics to follow that website instead.
Now, on to question 2 - which was - “On the timing schedule of emails received, which would you prefer?”
If only I would have “thunk” to put twice per month down there - that might have won out over once per week. Maybe not, but there were a few folks who mentioned that twice per month was good too.
You guys and gals are going to keep me pretty busy creating cool emails, aren’t you?
Once a week is great, and should not overwhelm you or I. I’ll just make sure all my content is ready by Sunday evening, because guess what!
On question number 3, which was “Which particular day is best for you to receive emails” - you chose Mondays! See?
This DID kind of surprise me, because everyone in “the biz” says Thursday or Friday is best. Mondays will work out great though, because that gives me much of the weekend to get the email together, then I can schedule it to go out Monday morning.
On to question number 4. This was, “In the past, when you have received emails from Michelle, which ones did you like best?” I kind of figured that good info/content would rank highest - but it was nice to know that people don’t mind links to good products, and also that a good number of people like a personal touch to their email.
So many emails we get in the marketing circle push product after product, without ever saying “hey - here’s how it’s been going for me lately.” I like humor too, so if someone can make a joke or two - that helps! We all need a good chuckle once in a while. The endless stream of product referrals that you’ll see one right after the other can drive a person to start scouting the fridge for a beer. Especially irritating is when they just copy the same exact email, and make absolutely no changes to it before sending it out. Uhg.
Anyhow, that brings us to question number 5! Now I’m going to try to save text and upload image 5.
Yay!!! It finally uploaded! It SAVED! My goodness, talk about a pain in the butt. Nothing like working on the same dang blog post for DAYS! Apparently the hosting co. had an issue, they kept blaming it on “people logging in too many times with the wrong user/pass info. Heh. Well, problem was - I was ALREADY logged in, nothing would SAVE. Well, at least that’s sorted out - nothing like being a week late.
Anyhow, Question number 5 was: “For this New Year, 2009, What kind of emails would you like to receive from Michelle?”
This was evenly split between content about graphics, and content about Internet Marketing. Wow a tie! That should be easy enough to talk about. I do both every day. (well, almost every day.) hehehe. Blogging is right behind those too, which is good. Just wish I could get a bit more blogging time!
Question 6 asked about your level of experience, which looks there like everyone is in about the same boat there.
This is great, because to me it looks like most folks pretty much know enough to build a site, and at least get around online well enough to begin building a business. Techy issues will always come up, but most have some experience.
Question number 7 was: “What is your current goal for this year concerning your online business?”
Most of us want to make some REALLY decent money - which is also good. And if you don’t have a goal as of yet - do your best to figure out your goals. You’ll never be able to meet a goal unless you know what that goal is!
The last couple questions 8, and 9 got some super answers too. I’ll begin going through those as I can and make sure everyone gets all their questions answered. I’ll also use many of those comments to begin teaching you what you would like to learn.
So far so good! Now, I’ll go shoot an email out - it will be our first Monday email - which will just link over to this post. I’ve covered the answers to the survey here - so no need for a big ole long email!
Meanwhile, I’ll add more info here as soon as I dig back out of the graphic mines. Yee haa!
Thanks!
Michelle

Wow, Michelle…what a “Kick Butt” post. Your simple survey gave you a great blueprint for the rest of this year. I found the numbers very interesting. It was like tapping into the minds of a lot of people. Helluva job well done!
Pat
Nice job M. Thanks for sharing the results.
Makes me see I need to work a harder!
Mondays work for me. (gives me all week to read it lol.)
Hi Tom!
Hey, thanks for that.
Sometimes it’s not exactly a matter of working harder - but to work smarter. I tend to try to work hard myself, and periodically have to back myself up and say “All right Michelle. What would be the best use of your time at this moment, and is there anything you can hire out?”
Sometimes there are things I can hire out, sometimes it’s not worth the effort. Meaning that I can probably just do it myself quicker than taking the time to find an outsourcer and waiting on them to get the job done.
Keep at it! As long as you don’t give up, you’ll get there… slow or not!
Thanks!
Michelle
